The recent consultation on proposals for the new rail franchise covering the current South Eastern Services resulted in a huge passenger movement against reducing services to a variety of London Termini.

Blackheath is currently set to retain services to both Cannon Street and Charing Cross but the service from the Bexleyheath Line to Victoria is under threat.  This could mean that there would no longer be a direct service from Blackheath to Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill which would affect those who work, visit or are patients at Kings Hospital.

There will still be a Victoria service from Lewisham but transport bosses at the Department of Transport want to streamline the service and reduce the number of track changes.  If this proposal goes ahead passengers from the Bexleyheath Line who wish to travel to Victoria will have to change platforms at Lewisham.  Many feel that changing trains at Lewisham will add too much time and inconvenience to journeys especially for the less able.

Clive Efford, MP for Eltham, is leading the objections to these changes.  If you are concerned you can find out more here

There is a also a petition here and a video of what it is like for a wheelchair user to change at Lewisham here.
